On Saturday May 14th, KU Hillel will host its annual Shabbat Graduation Brunch from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm for graduating seniors and their family and friends. It will be an opportunity for Jewish seniors to celebrate one final Shabbat together at KU. Family and friends of graduating seniors are welcome to join for an open house brunch held at KU Hillel. At 1:00 p.m. a ceremony will be led by Executive Director Jay Lewis and Senior Jewish Educator/Rabbi Neal Schuster to mark the seniors’ transition from their KU Jewish community on to their next Jewish community. |
The KU Hillel brunch plays a special role in graduation weekend as it is a time for Jewish students to reflect on the mutual impact KU Hillel and the seniors have had on each other. For many students, Hillel has provided a home, a community, Jewish depth and numerous leadership opportunities over the course of their college careers.
“Graduation Brunch is one of my favorite programs each year. It is such a meaningful experience to celebrate this milestone with our involved students and their families,” says KU Hillel Program Director Melissa Kingston.
For involved seniors, commemorating their time spent at KU Hillel and with the staff is significant. “Hillel has impacted me so much over the past four years and I cannot imagine spending my last weekend at KU anywhere else but at Hillel,” said KU senior Evan Traylor.
