In celebration of Hanukkah, students make latkes from scratch. This was the second cooking class – the first occurred two weeks ago, and students learned how to make jelly filled donuts, or Sufganiyot. “I’m so glad that students were just as eager as I was to learn how to make latkes," said Sophomore Lyndsey Havens. "My family typically buys them from a great Jewish deli, so I can’t wait to show off my skills over Thanksgiving Break." Lyndsey hosted the event in her apartment, with the help of KU Hillel’s Israel Advocacy Intern, junior Rebekah Durham.
12 students attended the event and with everyone’s help, over 30 latkes were made and quickly devoured.
