“I am so impressed by the level of leadership of the staff members. It is awesome how many talented, committed young leaders we have at KU each year from Herzl Camp. I love spending Shabbat at Herzl and seeing so many of our KU Hillel interns in action impacting the lives of Jewish children," says KU Hillel Executive Director Jay Lewis.
Herzl also plays as a terrific transition for incoming freshmen. “It has been really fun to get to know other Herzl staff members that attend KU and are involved with Hillel. I am a really looking forward to becoming a Jayhawk and to learning more about Jewish life at KU,” said incoming freshmen Benji Bloom. Many students started attending Herzl at a very young age while others more recently learned about Herzl and employment opportunities through their participation at KU Hillel.
A large number of KU Hillel student leaders come from a strong camp background. Other camps include Sabra, Beber, Shwayder, Osrui, Chi, Ramah and Green Family camp.
