We are proud to announce that KU Hillel has hired Tori Luecking as our Engagement Associate, a full-time position that will drive our organization’s efforts to reach out to and engage hundreds of new students in Jewish life at KU.
Luecking is graduating from the University of Kansas this month with a double major in Humanities and Communication Studies. Luecking has been an extremely active and an effective student leader at KU Hillel, particularly in the area of engagement. ”It would be impossible to find someone more outgoing, dynamic, and energetic about Jewish life at KU than Tori is,” said Jay Lewis, KU Hillel’s Executive Director. “She is a natural relationship builder and networker with a strong passion for connecting students to Jewish campus life. Tori is the ideal person for this job. We couldn’t be more excited to add her to our staff and have her join the long list of talented professional leaders who have emerged from our leadership development programs.”
In addition, Luecking will be a part of Hillel International’s Ezra Fellowship for early career professionals who are passionate about engaging young adults in Jewish learning. Ezra Fellows participate in significant professional development, which includes training in experiential Jewish education, immersive learning, workshops in facilitating conversations around Jewish texts, and career development coaching.
“As we interviewed candidate after candidate for this position, we kept comparing them to our current student leaders,” Lewis explained. “The more people we talked to, the more it became clear that our ideal person was right here. Plus, with all of her leadership roles with us, Tori has basically been in training for this position for the past four years. After working with her as a student leader, I can’t wait for her to join the staff and work with her as a colleague.”
Luecking will officially join the KU Hillel staff in July.
