Already a leader in the Hillel field, Sostrin is an alum of Hillel International’s Accelerate Executive Leadership Training Program, mentored new Executive Directors and served on Hillel’s Director’s Cabinet since 2014. A graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz, Sostrin also holds a Certification in Non-Profit Management from the Oklahoma Center for Non-Profits.
Sheryl Kaplan, incoming President of KU Hillel’s Board of Directors led the search in partnership with Michael Novicoff, the board’s outgoing president. “We are thrilled to bring Suzy on board,” said Kaplan. “She is just what this organization needs to maintain our high standard of excellence and lead us moving forward. She is going to be terrific.”
The search committee also consisted of the six students who serve on KU Hillel’s Board of Directors. They were very impressed with Sostrin. “Suzy feels like she belongs here,” said Jonathan Bush, KU Hillel senior. “When she came to visit, there was an instant connection with the students. I’m really excited to work with her.”
Sostrin succeeds Jay Lewis who is stepping down at the end of June after 15 years to become Campus Support Director for Hillel International. He will be based out of Kansas City.
