On Saturday, Nov. 21 KU Hillel welcomed Jewish Rock musician, Dan Nichols to Lawrence. Nichols is well known to many Jewish students from his many camp and youth group appearances across the country. Nichols led Havdalah for KU students at sundown and continued with a concert full of Jewish songs and storytelling.
Bernstein and fellow senior Evan Traylor headed this event under the guidance of Senior Jewish Educator Neal Schuster.
“It was a very cool event. Hillel was truly transformed-- the space was covered in drapes, the lighting was dim, and a full coffee and hot chocolate bar was set up for all of us to enjoy,” said junior Mike Johnson.
“It was a great way to spend my Saturday night—I felt like I was in a coffee shop. Listening to Dan Nichols perform was a nice break from studying for tests and a great send off before going home for Thanksgiving,” Johnson continued.
