KU Hillel Goes Pumpkin Picking11/5/2013 Last month, freshmen and sophomores were invited to join KU Hillel on an outing to Gary’s Pumpkin Patch. KU Hillel's Program Assistant, Leah Swartz and the six Freshman Engagement Interns, planned the event. “I was really happy about the turn out for the pumpkin patch, a lot of freshman came," said Tori Luecking, KU Hillel Freshmen Engagement Intern. "Every freshman centered event is all about the bonding, and this program was just another opportunity to create friendships among the freshman, as well as with students in other grades." From wagon rides to pony rides, there were countless activities offered at the patch. The eight-acre corn maze however was a favorite among students. Sophomore Lyndsey Havens said, “I’ve been in a few corn mazes in my life, but this was the first time that I actually got lost!” Hugecity Kansas, a guide to local events and happenings, even included “Hillel at the Pumpkin Patch” in their list of the top 10 events happening in Lawrence.
