KU Hillel hosted it’s first ever Parent Watch Party for current and incoming KU parents on Monday, February 6 at Maloney’s Sports Bar in Praire Village. KU Hillel Board member and parent Arlene Kaseff initiated the event with the hope of engaging and connecting parents of students involved in Hillel at KU.
Over 40 people attended this highly successful event. “The Parent Watch Party was a wonderful time and a great mix of current parents and future parents - a wonderful time was had by all! Rock Chalk KU Hillel,” says KU Hillel parent and board member Meg Adler.
“The KU Hillel Alumni Watch Party was a really great event. I am so glad Hillel was able to put on an event at the plaza as so many of us young alumni live in the downtown area. It was great seeing the Hillel staff again, many of my college friends, and to meet alumni from other years,” says KU graduate Stacy Bernstein.
While both watch parties were a huge hit, the biggest watch party is still to come. KU Hillel will host its’ annual basketball watch party, Bagels and Basketball that brings more than 200 students together, at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS. This year’s event is on Saturday, March 4 for the KU vs. Oklahoma State Game. Doors open at 4:30 pm and the game begins at 5:00 pm.
“I always tell people that Judaism is a religion at KU, but basketball is ‘the’ religion at KU,” adds Lewis. It is awesome when KU Hillel can combine the two."
