Upon arrival at the event, KU Hillel’s Freshman Engagement Interns, clad in matching yellow shirts, welcomed any incoming freshman and handed out a card offering their name and contact information. The aim of these cards was to try a new and hopefully effective form of communication between the KU Hillel interns and the freshmen that are looking to get involved.
Aside from forming new connections and getting students excited for the year ahead, everyone received a free T-shirt from KU Hillel, which was co-sponsored by the Reserve on West 31st Street. To keep the fun going, other giveaways were passed out throughout the duration of the event as well. The first week of school tends to always be chalk-full of free stuff and free food.
To add even more “taste” to the event, KU Hillel received food donations from 15 restaurants around Lawrence. These partnerships with the local restaurants have helped KU Hillel pursue more events over the course of the year for students to look forward to.
