Forty-one teams and 300 players from colleges across the United States travelled to Maryland to partake in the tournament. KU Hillel sent a men’s team of eight players and a women’s team of five. Before arriving in Maryland, the men’s team held weekly practices to build chemistry, create plays, and get in shape.
KU sophomore, Jeremy Gutovitz and KU junior, Shira Levine, both from Overland Park, helped to coordinate the weekend.
Aside from the tournament, each team was invited to the University Maryland’s Shabbat dinner. “It was a great opportunity to spend a Shabbat with Jewish students from all over the world,” said Levine.
KU men’s team placed 13th out of 32 teams and KU women’s team placed 5th out of 9 teams.
