Upon graduation, Yeyni worked as a Nutrition Educator at Harvesters before landing the BBYO Director position in Kansas City where she worked with Jewish teens for two years. In August of this year, Yeyni accepted a position at Jewish Family Services as the Director of Volunteer Engagement. “I’m responsible for the organization’s relationship with volunteers; making sure that Jewish Family Services is engaging the community in a way that is meaningful and helps us support and strengthen the Jewish and whole community and those in need.”
Although she has only been in her current position for 2 months, she says she has always been passionate about strengthening the Jewish community. “This position allows me to do what I love, which is working with the community and partnering with volunteers to help those in need.”
When asked about what she feels is the best part of her job, Yeyni said relationship building was her favorite aspect. “I love meeting new people and helping connect community members to opportunities that are meaningful to them and help further the mission of JFS.”
In 2011, Yeyni joined KU Hillel’s Board of Directors as a young alumni. “I joined KU Hillel’s board because I wanted to stay involved, and I wanted to give back to KU Hillel for all the organization has done for me. I thought being on the board would be a great way to do that. I also think it gave me an opportunity to keep young KU Alumni engaged in the organization. One of the highlights of being on the board was being able to help with Jewhawk Day and connecting juniors and seniors in high school to KU Hillel.”
Despite her busy schedule, Yeyni feels strongly about staying connected to KU Hillel and her Jewish roots. “Throughout my journey as young professional out of college, I have turned to KU Hillel. The experiences I was fortunate to have at KU Hillel, the staff, and other relationships that I formed because of KU Hillel have helped guide me. As someone who came to Kansas from Seattle, KU Hillel helped me create a community, even if I was thousands of miles away from home.”
