KU Hillel's Freshman Leadership Series is a 5-session series including an overnight retreat designed for emerging Jewish freshman leaders on KU’s campus. Freshmen will have opportunities to explore leadership topics, get to know a number of other Jewish freshmen, connect with KU Hillel staff and current student leaders, and learn more about KU Hillel.
“I have wanted to get involved with leading the Freshman Leadership series since I was a freshman myself. I remember seeing the upperclassmen working to organize events for dozens of students and I couldn’t wait to see what I could add to this amazing program in the future,” says junior Ariel Silverman.
Silverman participated in the Freshman Leadership series in spring 2015 and has participated in KU Hillel’s Beren Leadership class since then. She has also been a freshman engagement intern for the past two years.
Silverman will work alongside juniors Jillian Ward and Jonathan Bush as student leaders running the Freshman Leadership Series. KU Hillel Executive Director Jay Lewis and Engagement Associate Tori Luecking will also play an integral role in planning and facilitating programs for the freshmen.
While there is no commitment beyond participating in this series, freshmen will learn about more leadership opportunities to get involved in KU Hillel and Jewish life on campus.
“We hope that students are excited and energized by participating in the series and that their involvement with Hillel will only continue to grow in the coming years,” says Engagement Associate Tori Luecking.
This year’s freshman leadership series begins on Tuesday evening, January 31. Students who complete the leadership series are given a $50 stipend. Applications are due by January 27. To apply: http://bit.ly/LeadershipSeries2017
