This year, Rock Chalk Shabbat will begin at 5:30pm with hors d’oeuvres, followed by services and dinner in the Kansas Union. To help make the event a success, over 150 students are involved in planning the evening, leading services, and serving dinner. In addition to KU Hillel’s team of interns, the Jewish Greek community volunteers their time. The men of Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) and Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT) serve hors d’oeuvres and dinner respectively.
While the event is a fundraiser, it remains true to its origins as being an absolutely free event. This year, the fundraising campaign is being co-chaired by board members: Michael Novicoff, Scott Sher and Taly Friedman.
Donations are being sought in seven categories: $10,000 Championship, $5,400 Final Four, $3,600 Wave the Wheat, $1,800 Crimson and Blue, $540 Rock Chalk, $360 Jayhawk and $180 Table Sponsor. Gifts are not limited to these seven categories; gifts of any size will be accepted. Click here to become a sponsor!
Rock Chalk Shabbat is funded by a grant from the Jewish Heritage Foundation. Funds raised at Rock Chalk Shabbat will fund a variety of Hillel programs throughout the year.
