Jay is a KU alum and received is MA in Jewish Communal Service from the Hornstein Program at Brandeis University. Prior to returning to KU, he was the Assistant Director of the Bureau of Jewish Education in Orange County, CA. Locally, Jay has been recognized as KU’s Advisor of the Year and nationally has received Hillel’s prestigious Richard M. Joel Exemplar of Excellence Award. He is passionate about basketball, golf, and the Jayhawks. He lives in Overland Park with his wife and two kids.
Rabbi Neal Schuster, Rabbi/Senior Jewish Educator
Neal is a native of Seattle, who, after living in Los Angeles and Jerusalem was surprised to discover how much he and his family love living in Kansas. He moved here in 2003 to serve as one of the rabbis at Congregation B’nai Jehudah in Overland Park, and, in 2009, he joined the KU Hillel team as its Senior Jewish Educator, a position in which he gets to engage students in their exploration of life, Judaism and the meaning of it all. As he often tells people, “This is the kind of work I became a rabbi to do.” Neal lives in Overland Park with his wife and three kids.
Melissa Kingston, Program Director

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Melissa graduated from the University of Kansas in May 2011 with a bachelors degree in visual communications and a minor in dance. Upon graduation, Melissa worked as a consultant for Sigma Delta Tau (SDT) National Sorority. After a year of traveling, Melissa returned to Lawrence, Kansas and took the position as a graphic designer for The Original Retro Brand before joining the KU Hillel staff in July 2013 as the Program Director. Melissa and her husband moved from Lawrence to Overland Park in June 2014.
Amy Sandler, Director of Development and Special Projects

Originally from Minneapolis, Amy completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University receiving her bachelors degree in Secondary Education: English in 2012. After graduating, Amy moved back to Minneapolis to work as the Director of Youth and Camping at Temple Israel and Camp TEKO. Amy moved to Kansas in March 2015 and she and her husband currently live in Kansas City. She loves hiking, writing, and traveling.
Tori Luecking, Engagement Associate

Tori graduated from KU in 2016 with a double major in Humanities and Communication Studies. Tori was an extremely active and effective student leader at KU Hillel, particularly in the area of engagement. In addition to her position at KU Hillel, Luecking will be a part of Hillel International’s Ezra Fellowship for early career professionals who are passionate about engaging young adults in Jewish learning. Luecking is originally from St. Louis and currently resides in Lawrence.
