Hineni: Building Hillel’s Future Together

At the beginning of the Fall 2021 semester, KU Hillel moved to an exciting new location steps from campus at the corner of 11th & Indiana. Since then, we’ve seen triple the number of students popping by Hillel for snacks or time to study — and even more for Shabbat services, Jewish learning classes, internships, and mental health and wellness programming. It has only strengthened our vibrant Jewish community, providing a Jewish home away from home for more students than ever before.

After trying out the new spot (and loving it), we’re making it permanent. We have launched an exciting building project called Hineni, meaning here. This new space will incorporate over 3,000 square feet of flexible programming space for our incredible staff-student partnership to continue to flourish.

This location is the first-floor commercial space of the HERE apartments, and aligned perfectly with Hineni — a value we truly embody as always being here for our students. Our emphasis on hachnasat orchim (a warm, welcoming community) means our doors are open for every student.

We have secured an incredible matching gift of $100,000 thanks to the generous support of the Leonard Wilk Family Philanthropic Fund by its advisors. Help us build our new home together by making a gift today. Every dollar will be matched so your donation will go twice as far.

Every gift of $180 or more will be honored on our Legacy Wall, which is a meaningful way to have your impact resonate for generations to come. It’s also possible to make a group gift with classmates, family or friends, too.
